Reservations Form

Reservations Form

This form displays the status of reservations on the shared project if the project requires reservations when updating. From here you can delete any reservations that belong to you.

Reservations apply only to "shared content". Content is deemed shared once it is synchronized to the server. This means you can, edit, and delete content freely until that content is sent to the server.

Types of Reservations

You reserve content either by right-clicking a node in the Project Tree in Standard View, or the Coding Structure in any other view, then choosing Reserve from the context menu, followed by the type of reservation you want. The node you choose determines the scope of content covered by the reservation. There are basically three kinds of reservations:

  • Coding Only -- allows you to change the way the content coded.

  • Edit Only -- allows you to edit the text of Codes and Comments inside the scope of the reservation.

  • Full Control -- allows you to code and edit the Codes and Comments within the scope of the reservation, and to delete the content.

Reservation Scope

Each reservation applies to some portion of Codes and/or Comments. This is based on the item you click on when you create it:

  • If you create it on a Project Member, the reservation covers all Comments that belong to the Respondents that are assigned to the Project Member

  • If you create it on a Respondent, the reservation covers all the Comments that belong to that Respondent.

  • If you create it on a Code, the reservation covers all Codes and Comments contained inside that Code.

  • If you create it on the top level node in a Content Tree or the top level node in Standard View, the reservation covers the entire project content. (The top level node is the one that displays the name of the project.)

Ideally, you should reserve only the content you need reserved. If the reservation is too broad, it may prevent another team member from getting a reservation on content that they should have access to.

1 . Delete ReservationDelete Reservation

Delete the highlighted reservation. This button is enabled only if the highlighted reservation belongs to you, or if you are the project owner. When you delete a reservation, it has an immediate impact on your editing capabilties, in that you lose the privileges that go with the reservation. Other team members continue to be restricted as if the reservation is in effect -- that is, they cannot get a reservation on the content you freed up -- until you synchronized, followed by their own synchronization.

2 . Reservations ListReservations List

Displays the existing reservations. The color-coded letters in the left-most column indicate the status and type of reservation. Following are the meanings:

  • Green C -- You have a reservation that allows you to code the content

  • Green E -- You have a reservation that allows you to edit the content

  • Yellow C and/or E -- The reservation is pending either because the reservation has not been synchronized to the server yet, or another prior reservation exists that covers some or all of the same content

  • Red C -- Another team member has the content reserved for coding

  • Red C -- Another team member has the content reserved for editing
