Demographic Form

A Demographic is a custom attribute associated with each Respondent. Demographics are used in analysis and reporting as a means of isolating subsets of Respondents that have something in common. Examples are Region, Product Line, Division, and Tenure. An analysis filtered on one or more Demographic values may reveal interesting tendencies in their comments as compared to the overall project population. For example, you may find that Respondents in a particular geographic region feel that inadequate product localization is the major barrier to growth. Maintaining a Demographic called Region would make this type of analysis possible.

 

If you have a standard interview protocol, most of the demographic items you collect would be good candidates for Demographics. Demographics can be added to the project at any time. If you intend to have a

 

Add a Demographic

Select Insert/Demographic on the main menu, or in Standard View click on the Respondents node in the Project Tree and either press the Insert key or right-click and choose New from the context menu.

 

Edit a Demographic

In Standard View, either double-click the Demographic in the Project Tree, or select the Demographics node in the Project Tree and double-click the Demographic in the Demographic List. Alternatively right-click the Demographic in Standard View and choose Properties from the context menu.

 

Delete a Demographic

In Standard View, select the Demographic either in the the Project Tree or in the Demographic List, then choose Delete/Demographic from the main menu, press the Delete key, or right-click and choose Delete from the context menu.

 

1 . Demographic NameDemographic Name


The name of the Demographic. Examples are Region, Management Level, Product Line, Grade Level, and Tenure.

Exit and save changes.

 

3 . CancelCancel


Exit without keeping any changes.

4 . Valid Values ListValid Values List


The Valid Values List is a list of values that are considered valid for this Demographic. This list is built automatically as Respondents are added and managed. You can however optionally add values directly by clicking on the New Value row -- the row in the list right below the last value.

5 . Move Value UpMove Value Up


Click this button to move the highlighted value up in its natural order.

6 . Move Value DownMove Value Down


Move the highlighted value down one in the natural order.

7 . Delete ValueDelete Value


Removes the highlighted value from the project. This button is enabled only if no Respondents depend on the value.

8 . New Value RowNew Value Row


Click this row to initiate adding a new value.
